FAQs

What makes this the best cast/splint/wound cover in the world?

The combination between lightweight, supple fabric and unparalleled seal of the latex gasket makes for a durable, effective and comfortable solution to this problem. It can be worn for extended periods of times, comes in exciting colors and is being recommended by doctors all over the US. Multiple kids and adult sizing options for the perfect fit.

Does this product contain latex?

Yes, the gasket that seals to your skin is natural rubber latex.

The cover is a little too tight, can I make it a little bigger?

Yes you can. If you turn the gasket inside out, there are concentric trimming rings that you can use to make the seal larger. Click here for instructions on trimming.

Can I swim in the cover?

Absolutely. Avoid jumping or diving from heights as the sudden change in pressure could compromise the seal.

Any tips/tricks for putting it on?

There are many ways that patients have emailed, but a constant them has been to put a tube sock or pantyhose over the cast first. This reduces the friction between the cast and the gasket, making for an easier application.

How can this cover be used?

The cover is great for anything that you need to keep dry post medical care, such as casts, splints, wounds etc.

How long can I wear this cover?

As long as you don’t feel any numbness, tingling or cold in the fingers or toes,  there is no time restriction. If you do feel any of these sensations, remove the cover immediately.

The cover is a little too long, is that OK?

Yes that is not a problem. Even for short arm applications, the best seal is around the bicep. We designed the cover to accommodate short and long arm casts and splints, so you may find that there is some extra length when in a short arm device. No big deal, just some extra fabric.

When I get in the water, the cover fills with air. Is that normal?

This is normal. Basically, the air inside the cover expands when submerged. To release the air, with the gasket above the water, simply open the gasket a little bit and squeeze the cover. This will release excess air, a process called “burping”.

What activities should I avoid while wearing the cover?

Avoid hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms as the extreme heat in this environment will cause excessive sweating inside the cover, leading to moisture build up inside the cover. And anything your doctor advises against!
